BEHIND THE SEAMS
3% of the world’s arable land is used for cotton production, but accounts for 11% of pesticides and 24% percent of insecticides. These pesticides, insecticides and polluting chemicals contribute massively to groundwater and soil contamination. 2,700 liters of water are used to make one cotton shirt, which is enough water for one person to drink for 2.5 years.
Our white corduroy cotton is a fabric that was produced by a larger design house. The full quantity was not used by them and would have ended up in a landfill. So, we saved the fabric, the abundant resources and energy used to create it, and chose to give this deadstock fabric a second life, as our beautiful Laurel Dress.
Choosing deadstock fabric is one important step towards effectively breaking the harmful cycle. Our brand believes in saving our planet and minimizing our waste, water and energy footprint wherever we can. We strive to be a part of the emergent movement towards sustainable fashion.
