THE SYCAMORE DRESS

A special edition, 1900’s inspired short length, nude-gold striped chiffon sleeveless dress. Detailing soft ruffles along the armhole and neck, narrow pin tucks along the shoulders, as well as self-covered buttons down center front to provide easy access for breastfeeding. Comes with a thin belt that may be tied to accentuate the waist. Paired with nude-gold striped chiffon culottes, full-cut and gathered at upper thigh.

One hectare of mulberry trees yields around 11.25 tons of leaves, which produces around 200 kg of cocoons, equating to about 40 kg of raw silk yarns. To weave this raw material into silk, a machine uses about 1000 kW from start to finish. Additionally, 200 tons of water are used to produce one ton of dyed fabric.

Our nude gold striped chiffon silk is a fabric that was produced by a larger design house. The full quantity was not used by them and would have ended up in a landfill. So, we saved the fabric, the abundant resources and energy used to create it, and chose to give this deadstock fabric a second life, as our charming Sycamore Dress.

Choosing deadstock fabric is one important step towards effectively breaking the harmful cycle. Our brand believes in saving our planet and minimizing our waste, water and energy footprint wherever we can. We strive to be a part of the emergent movement towards sustainable fashion.
