BEHIND THE SEAMS

3% of the world’s arable land is used for cotton production, but accounts for 11% of pesticides and 24% percent of insecticides. These pesticides, insecticides and polluting chemicals contribute massively to groundwater and soil contamination. Nearly 70 million barrels of oil are used every year to produce polyester. The production is a high impact process.

Our black gold jacquard cotton polyester is a fabric that was produced by a larger design house. The full quantity was not used by them and would have ended up in a landfill. So, we saved the fabric, the abundant resources and energy used to create it, and chose to give this deadstock fabric a second life, as our beautiful Laurel Dress.

Choosing deadstock fabric is one important step towards effectively breaking the harmful cycle. Our brand believes in saving our planet and minimizing our waste, water and energy footprint wherever we can. We strive to be a part of the emergent movement towards sustainable fashion.
